Goal

The goal of this personal project was to create a template that I could use in my future work, as well as publicly demonstrate my skills in Figma and share the result in the Figma Community.

Challenge

A big challenge I faced in making this template was keeping up with Figma's frequent updates.

I made sure the template is versatile and easy to use for different projects. This is crucial for smooth collaboration with other designers on the team, considering every project is unique.

Approach

I based this template on Steve Krug's template from the book "Don't Make Me Think”, because I've found it to be versatile and practical through my experience.

After making some tweaks and additions, I created a basic structure, using Figma's components, auto layouts, and styles for colors and text. I opted for regular Figma file over FigJam due to its more extensive customization tools, avoiding the monotony of stickers.I chose not to use Figma's "local variables" feature at the moment because it's still in development, lacking key functions like setting font size, color opacity, and border size. However, based on Figma's latest release notes, these features seem to be on the way, promising to enhance the template's effectiveness in the future.

Impact

This template received over 1000 views in Figma Community and was copied over 300 times, which certainly exceeded my expectations.

Personally, I actively use it in my work when presenting the results of qualitative research to stakeholders as well as notes in files to keep the development team informed about the reasons for certain design decisions.

Conclusion

In this project, I was able to create a template that saves me time and helps me demonstrate and share the results of my work with the team.

And I hope that for those who copied it, it also helps them in their work and increases the efficiency of completing tasks.
